American Staffordshire Terrier - Jasmine - Medium - Adult
Jasmine spent three years being picked over and cast aside in an upstate New York shelter. A staff and volunteer favorite, she couldn't get up to greet visitors and often sat with her back to people while in her kennel. We were told she had extreme arthritis in her hind legs, but upon meeting her, we realized she was actually suffering from acute ligament tears in both of her 'knees." We couldn't let her go and so we pulled her into our rescue, rehabilitation and adoption program, One Lucky Pup. In mid-June 2014, Jasmine underwent the first of her two surgeries, a TPLO procedure to help her learn to walk and run without pain. Jasmine recovered very quickly and as her leg grew stringer, she underwent her second surgery, a TPLO procedure on her other leg at the end of July, seven weeks later. Jasmine is currently recovering at our trainer's facility near New Haven, CT. Jasmine is incredibly affection, loves humans and is very well behaved. She is quiet and wiggly, literally, and also has a giant smile on her face. Since we pulled her into our rescue, Jasmine has bloomed, opened up and stolen the heart of every person she meets. She is spayed, house trained, UTD on all shots, weighs 45lbs. and is approximately 6 years old. She does not chase cats and is largely nonreactive to other dogs.
